Discover How Our Metal Foundry Uses the Printed Sand Mold Process
3D sand printing is an incredible process used in our metal foundry to create castable molds for our customers. We use state-of-the-art equipment that takes your CAD design and prints it using sand and a binding agent directly onto a printer bed. The process builds up your model one layer of sand at a time. Once the printing process is done, we harvest the pieces from the printing bed and clean them off. Then they are on their way to be poured.
Eliminating Manual Labor
This process eliminates a lot of the manual labor that was involved in the traditional sand casting process. While we still use sand casting in our metal foundry for certain project, printed sand molds allow us to achieve more detail on a mold than you’d get from the traditional process. And because there is no need to hand tool the molds, it can actually save you on labor costs. We use a 3D sand printer that can create designs up to 70” x 39” x 27” so you can print larger items or bigger runs of molds in a single process.
